Jon David Gripentrog, 63, Marshfield, died of heart complications on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Zion United Methodist Church, Marshfield, with Jon's son, Jamie Gripentrog officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Gripentrog, Dale Gripentrog, Lyle Gripentrog, Gary Gripentrog, Phil Smith, Bob Schmoll and Ed Rhodes. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am until service time, all at Zion United Methodist Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Jon was born on January 26, 1949 in Pinconning, MI to the late Reinie and Millie (Shelly) Gripentrog. He attended many schools and graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1967. He was married to Bonnie Bushman on November 30, 1968. After their marriage Jon served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971 and was stationed for a time in Fairbanks, Alaska. Other than a short time in West Bend, Jon and Bonnie lived in Marshfield their entire lives. Jon had many careers over the years including route sales jobs for Wagner Sausage (Sheboygan), Hauke Honey (Marshfield), Fleming Foods (Marshfield) and most recently at St. Vincent De Paul. Jon was a devoted family man who especially enjoyed his eight grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting coins, woodworking, yard work, and following the Green Bay Packers. He also loved country music, campfires, and getting together with his many siblings. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie (Bushman), sons, Jamie (Melissa) of Chili, Aaron (Nikki) of Curtiss and a daughter, Kristi (Andy) Wolf of Vesper. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kayley, Cassie, Allie, Mason, Adyn, Nevyn, Alivia, and Jacob. He is further survived by his siblings, Violet Leonard, Jim (Bea) Gripentrog, LaVon Schmoll, Karen Poyner, Beth Breu, Dale (Dale Ann) Gripentrog, Lyle (Pam) Gripentrog, Gary Gripentrog, Mary Jo Gripentrog, and Debra LaPorte. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinie and Millie Gripentrog, sisters, Frances Smith, Rachel Bigelow and a brother, Robert Gripentrog. Condolences m ay be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
