Obituary

John Joseph Pritzl, 77, Marshfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Father Samuel Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and members of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly will serve as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 at St. John's Church, following the service. The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at Rembs Funeral Home where a Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm. The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree will form a guard of honor at the funeral home and at St. John's Church. John was born on January 22, 1939 in Marshfield, to Arnold and Eunica (Wegner) Pritzl. He attended St. John's Grade School and was a 1957 graduate of Columbus Catholic High School. John was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He entered the United States Navy in 1957 and served on the USS Saratoga on the Mediterranean Sea. After his honorable discharge, John returned to Marshfield and worked at different businesses, including Marshfield Power House, Hauke Transit, Rollohome and retired from Fleming Corporation in 2001. John's hobbies were bowling, fishing, playing cards, listening to polka music, watching all of the Wisconsin sports teams and spending time with family and friends. John drove taxi cab for many years and always enjoyed talking and listening to his passengers. He retired from driving cab in 2014. John married Shari Stangl in 1965 and they had 2 children, Jeffrey and Peace (Lisa). They later divorced. In 1980 John and Shirley Kramp were married and they had daughter, Kimberly. John was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799 and a life time member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly #1219 and its honor guard. He also served a term as Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree. John is survived by his wife, Shirley, son, Jeffrey (Susan) Pritzl of Manitowoc and their children, Emily and Peter, a daughter, Peace (Adam) Townsend of Skipton, England, and a daughter, Kimberly (John) Puzz of Nekoosa and their children, Brigs and Raegan. He is also survived by a sister, Mary (Paul) Jesberger of Sauk City, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Pritzl of Huntington Beach, CA, Sharon Pritzl of Lake Placid, FL, and Marianne Pritzl of Covington, RI and many nieces, nephews and friends. John is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Gerald, Donald, Robert and Paul and sister-in-law, Patricia Pritzl and his father and mother-in-law, John and Eleanor Kramp. The family would like to thank all the Doctors and nurses at the Marshfield Clinic and Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Fr.
