John S. Peaslee, 86 of City Point died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, January 4, 2015 at his home with his family at his side.
Memorial services will be 10:30am Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 4-7pm Thursday at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville and again on Friday from 9:30am Friday until service.
John was born on September 7, 1928 to William and Anna (Gotz) Peaslee. His early years and schooling were spent in the Cranmoor area.
On June 18, 1949 he was married to Hallie J. Emerson and had celebrated 65 years of marriage. He served during the Korean War from 1951-1953.
John and Hallie raised their family in the City Point area. He was employed as an iron worker throughout his working years.
He served as a Town Chairman for the City Point Township for 15 years. He was instrumental in helping develop the City Point Fire Department and building a functional community center.
His great passion was raising honey bees and extracting their honey. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding and watching birds, squirrels and rabbits. John loved playing cards, fueling the stoves, reading and taking a ride to the casino.
He is survived by his wife Hallie, children Nancy (Dann) Kann of Rice Lake, John (Mary) Peaslee of Park Falls, Cathy Ekern of Rice Lake, Betsy (Frank) Frost of Pittsville and Julie (Bob) Fluegel of Granton; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Chris) Peaslee, Jason Peaslee, Cody Ekern, Callie (Chris) Cree, Jessica (Al) Bucheger, Jenny Fluegel and Kim (Ryan) Rakovec; five great grandchildren, Rylie, Jaydon, Landyn, Liam, and Hallie. He is further survived by a sister Irene Rasmussen of Wisconsin Rapids, brother Willis Peaslee of Nekoosa and a sister-in-law Myrtle Peaslee of Arpin; two brothers-in-law Ralph Emerson of City Point and Gary (Kathy) Emerson of Rockford, IL
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Claude "Bert", Roy, Fred and Francis; six sisters, Pearl Larson, Julie Weiss, Joyce Schilter, Regina Floyd, Vera Peaslee and Bernice Lilley.
