John was born on July 31, 1925 in Marshfield to John and Theresa (Leinwander) Marx.
He was united in marriage to Cathryn A. Weber on July 6, 1953 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford. She sadly passed away on April 13, 1994.
In 1943 at the age of 17, he packed a lunch and went to work with his father at Roddis Plywood which later became Weyerhaeuser Company. After 47 years, he retired.
During his retirement, he enjoyed going to church every morning and was a Mass and Funeral server. He also enjoyed playing bingo.
John learned to play piano by ear and at one time played piano on the radio. He also played piano for many years at the nursing home parties, playing all the oldies but goodies which everyone young and old enjoyed.
He was an honorary life time member of the Knights of Columbus # 1799 helping out with many tootsie roll drives and attending lots of KC Rosaries. John rang the bell for the Salvation Army bell ringers.
John is survived by his children, Robert (Famia) Marx of Arpin, Bill (Cathy) Marx of Marshfield, Peter Marx of Marshfield, Gary Marx of Wisconsin Rapids, Ann Marx of Marshfield and John C. Marx of Marshfield. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Matt Marx, Sam (Maddie) Marx, Alex and Jacob Marx and a great grandson due in July.
Besides his parents and wife Cathryn, he was preceded in death by two brothers Franklin and Cyril Marx and two sisters Katherine Murray and Angela Green and a special niece Colette Marx.
