John P. Kress, Jr., 84, Stratford, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Country Terrace in Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Rozellville, where visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam will officiate. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. John was born on October 13, 1936 to John and Mary (Marty) Kress. He farmed until 1980 and then worked as a custodian for the Stratford school system until his retirement in 2001. John enjoyed hiking the trails in the Mead Wildlife area, riding his bike, collecting red tractors, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brother, Ervin, and nieces and nephews, Alex (Kathie) Kress, James (Patti Swensen) Kress, Mary Ann (Larry) Scholl, Gerald (Genevieve) Kress, Netzie (Steve) Wolf, Daniel Kress, Donald (Barbara) Kress, Kathy (Rodger) Petri, Dean Kress, Walter (Shelley) Kress, Roger Kress, and Janet (Dave) Wink, niece-in-law, Dixie Kress-Riedel, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in the death by his parents, brother, Ernest Kress, and nephew Joe Kress.
