John P. Holden, 84, Marshfield, formerly of Pittsville, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Three Oaks Health Services, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. Daniel Thelen officiating. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Town of Richfield, Wood County, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday and from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday, all at Rembs Funeral Home.
John was born on November 30, 1937 in White Creek, Wisconsin, to William and Emma (Gerard) Holden and attended Adams, Wisconsin schools. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from October 18, 1956 until his honorable discharge on October 17, 1960.
He married Joyce M. Miller on June 9, 1962 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hewitt.
John was employed for the Soo Line Railroad which later became Wisconsin Central Railroad, until his retirement.
He enjoyed going to the cabin, sitting on the dock, fishing, and being in the woods. He was friends with everyone, never met a stranger and enjoyed morning coffee with friends. Most of all he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce and their daughters, Pamela Bedekovich (Sam McMillan) of Hope Mills, NC, Gina (James) Brandl of Arpin, Carmen (Patrick) Englebretson of Loyal and Lisa (Todd) Weister of Spencer. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Tami, Adam, Joe, Kirsti, Mike, Jennifer, Melanie, Nick, Brandon and Michelle and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.
Memorials may be designated for Dementia research.
