John Donald Seitz, Sr., 75, of Stratford, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratford. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass. A livestream of the service will be available on John’s obituary page at rembsfh.com. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County where military honors will be conducted by VFW Mueller-Hintz Post #1866 - Marshfield. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford is assisting the family.

John was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on January 24, 1951, to Marvin and Lorraine (Poeschel) Seitz. He met his high school sweetheart, Jane Krause, while attending Stratford High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972, assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 503rd Infantry Battalion, deployed to Vietnam, and was awarded the Bronze Star. After returning home, John and Jane were united in marriage on October 30, 1971, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

John loved spending time on the land “Out Home.” The family mink farm became the place where he and Jane built their first home and grew their family. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—long conversations around a fire, tending gardens for his famous horseradish, and collecting treasures. It was truly his happy place. The family later moved into town, but his heart remained “Out Home”.

John valued family, hard work, and humor. He would drop what he was doing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His quick wit made friends wherever he went. He was always ready with a warm hug or handshake, a good joke, or a playful prank, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.

John is survived by his wife, Jane Seitz, Stratford; four children, John Jr. (Cathy) Seitz of Stratford, WI, Tommy Seitz of Stratford, WI, Katie (Heather) Seitz of Milwaukee, WI, Candice (Chad) Bolding of Auburn, AL; and 6 grandchildren, Zack, John III and Olivia Seitz, Benjamin, Matthew and Samuel Bolding.

He is further survived by his siblings, Judy (Peter) Beining, Jerry (Jan) Seitz, sister-in-law, Lois Seitz, Susan Alfredson, Mary (Joe) Mayer, and Rosy Frank, and many nieces and nephews. He also loved his Krause Family, Bob Krause, Lois (James) Wagner, and Mary Martens. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clifford Seitz, and in-laws Robert & Mercedes Krause, Darvin Martens, Terry Frank, Gary Alfredson, and Bea Ann Krause.
