John D. Bandow, 72, Stratford, died on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 am on Saturday until service time. Rev. Sengole Vethamanickam and Rev. Eric Berns will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County.
John was born on October 19, 1943 in Neenah, Wisconsin, the son of Ambrose and Clarice (Balke) Bandow. He was a 1962 graduate of Chamblee High School in Chamblee, Georgia. On March 26, 1965 he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Treankler at the Bible Church in Stratford. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2015.
John was employed in the communications field for many years until his retirement from Verizon. After his retirement he was Chairman for the Town of Frankfort and a member of the Marathon County Board. He was very active in the church his entire life including volunteering in prison fellowship.
He is survived by his children, David (Rose) Bandow of New Berlin, Beth (Dave Sedlacek) Lane of Marathon, Rachel (Jerry) Greisinger of Antigo, and James (Patti) Bandow of Stratford. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He is further survived by his brothers, Phil (Linda) Bandow, Paul Bandow, and George (Dee) Bandow and a sister, Grace Frick.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Barbara.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
