IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John G.
Allen
August 13, 1944 – March 4, 2023
John Allen is in the great clubhouse in the sky! Most recently of Bella Vista, AR, John was a man who loved golf, family, and friends more than anything. John passed away on March 4, 2023, at 4:32 PM leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to the sport of golf and to his roles as husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

John Garfield Allen was born on August 13, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC to James Garfield Allen and Johnnie Bailey Allen. John graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1962. He married the love of his life, Jacklyn Marnette Allemang on November 14, 1964. He spent 36 years as a manager with the Kmart/Kresge Corporation. He won numerous awards throughout his career including Manager of the Year and many "Top Performing Store" awards in his 36 years. John's many stores were located all over the Midwest including Wisconsin, Michigan, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota. John retired from Kmart at the Plymouth, WI store in 2001. He and Jackie then moved to Medford, WI where they built a house on Lake Isadore. John then took a job managing the local Do It Best Hardware store. In 2009 John and Jackie moved to Bella Vista Arkansas. There John enjoyed golfing as many days a week as possible while still working part time at Scottsdale Golf Course and as a courier for the Bella Vista POA.
For John, golf was more than just a game, but a metaphor for life. To play the ball where it lies, and to take risks to achieve your goals. He knew that life, like golf, is full of ups and downs, and that sometimes you must go through the rough to reach the green.
Rest in peace, John. We know this next journey will be filled with sunshine, fairways, birdies, eagles, and holes in one. He will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives you touched.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James Garfield, and Johnnie Bailey Allen; his brother, James Allen; his mother-in-law, Ruth Allemang; his father-in-law, Wayne Allemang; his brother-in-law, Robert Allemang; his brother-in-law, David Tisch; his sister-in-law, Barbara Allen; his nephew, Craig Tisch; his niece, Holly Maloney; and his great nephew, Noah Froemming.
