Joanne A. Schmidt, lovingly called “Jojo,” 91, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

In celebration of her life, a visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Pastor Patti Steevens, with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately following the service. Jojo’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers: Brandon Zink, Bradley Schmidt, Timothy Schmidt, Matthew Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt, and Nikolas Schmidt.

Joanne was born on February 15, 1935, to Melvin and Marie (Walters) Scheibe and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1954. Joanne was united in marriage to Richard Schmidt on June 30, 1956.

Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was family, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Whether she was sharing stories, celebrating birthdays or other milestones, laughing together, or simply enjoying their company, Jojo made each of them feel deeply loved and special. She loved her family dearly and leaves them with everlasting love, wonderful memories, and the comfort of knowing how much joy they brought to her life.

Her daughter, Shari, was not only her best friend but also her constant companion. The two shared an incredibly special bond, spending nearly every day together shopping, talking, laughing, and simply being goofy in the way only they could. Those everyday moments became some of their most treasured memories.

Jojo also had a special love for all her grand dogs, who brought her many smiles and laughs. While she loved them all, Loki held a special place in her heart - the moment grandma came through the door, Loki was there to greet her and watch over her, offering the kind of loyal and loving companionship that meant so much to her.

Jojo also enjoyed family vacations to Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Georgia, and Florida. She had a special love for polka music and dancing, and anyone walking into her home could often hear polka music blasting loud, filling the house with the joyful sounds she loved so much.

Jojo worked at McCory’s, Figi’s, Marshfield Clinic, and Security Health Plan. She was a devoted employee who took pride in her work – so much pride that she did not completely retire until she was 82.

Jojo had a wonderful group of friends. She loved her monthly breakfast dates with the ladies from high school, as well as her monthly lunch dates with the ladies from Marshfield Clinic and Security Health Plan.

Jojo is lovingly survived by her daughter, Shari (Brian) Zink of Marshfield, and sons, Rocky (Judy) Schmidt of Janesville, Randy (Pamela) Schmidt of Marshfield, and Scott (Kim) Schmidt of Marshfield. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Brandon Zink, Bradley (Kristen) Schmidt, Timothy (Melissa) Schmidt, Matthew (Jenny) Schmidt, Christopher (Shelisa) Schmidt, and Nikolas (fiancé Jordan) Schmidt; one step-granddaughter, Alyse (Justin) Koeberl; 13 great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Marissa, Chloe, Oliva, Riley, Allison, Gracie, Peyton, Nolan, Eliot, Ryker, Theodore, and Olliven; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Max, Henry, Scarlett, Jesse, Brandon, Chase, and Liam.

Jojo is further survived by 2 brothers, Robert Schiebe and Ronald Scheibe, both of Marshfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Carol Scheibe Sternitzky; sisters-in-law, Judy Scheibe and Barbara Scheibe; brother, Richard Scheibe; niece, Kim Scheibe; nephews, Michael and Richard Jr. Scheibe; and daughter-in-law, Kaye Schmidt.

Jojo’s kindness, infectious laugh, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, the warmth she shared and the happiness she brought to others will never be forgotten.
