Joann M. DeGroot, 78, Marshfield, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Crossroads Church, Pittsville, with Pastor David Bratlie officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and on Monday from 10:00 am until service time at Crossroads Church. Joann was born on May 22, 1937 in Marshfield to John and Melinda (Anderegg) Sladek. She married Norbert Newmier and he died in 1970. She later married Felix H. DeGroot on September 30, 1994. One of Joann's favorite things to do was dancing, especially square dancing. She is survived by her husband, Felix and her children, Debra (Mark) Writz, Kathy (Darrell) Leibl, and Kenneth (Cindy) Newmier and stepchildren, James (Debbie) DeGroot, Felix R. (Debbie) DeGroot, Valerie Bowman and Virginia (Tim) Tomsen. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Jerry Sladek.
