JoAnn C. Brown, age 91, Marshfield, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, where a gathering for family and friends will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
JoAnn was born on June 24, 1932, in Spencer, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Theresa (Hardinger) Fischer and was a graduate of Spencer High School. She was united in marriage to James R. "Sonny" Brown on October 22, 1955, at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. He died on March 11, 2015.
In her younger days, JoAnn worked at Marshfield Book and Stationery. In her early married life, she worked at the family business, Brown's Bar. She then was a stay-at-home homemaker and mother. Later in life she worked at Wickersham Jewelry in Marshfield.
As a breast cancer survivor, JoAnn was a volunteer at the Marshfield hospital, working with patients battling breast cancer. She was an active member at Our Lady of Peace Church for many years.
She was an avid golfer into her 80's and loved shopping. She enjoyed baking, especially with her grandkids, and loved playing games (especially dominos) with her grandkids.
JoAnn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and everyone's favorite aunt.
She is survived by her children, Tom Brown and Mike Brown, both of Marshfield, and Shelly (Steve) Pennebaker of Oak Grove, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kayla Bjorneberg, Chelsea Kelly, Brandon Brown, Josie Brown, Sadie Pennebaker, Cody Pennebaker, and Reggi Brown. She is further survived by siblings, John (Rita) Fischer, Jenny (Jim) Sternweis, all of Marshfield and Betty Klawitter of Wisconsin Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sonny, brothers, Ervin and Robert Fischer, and sisters, Marie Dietrich, Rosie Rupaner, Lorraine Marks, Theresa Sydow, Marcella Gliniecki, and Annie Fischer.
The family would like to thank Compassus Home Health Care and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care.
