Joan C. Zubke, 92, formerly of Arpin died the morning of Sunday, September 27, 2026 at the House of the Dove under the care of Compassus Hospice.

A Memorial service will be held at 11am Monday, October 12 at the Rembs funeral Home in Marshfield with Pastor Andrew Belt officiating. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation from 9am until time of service. Burial will follow in Arpin Cemetery.

Joan was born December 15, 1933 at home in Arpin to Jacob and Cleo (Trotter) Marti, the 2nd of 4 children born to the couple. She was a 1951 graduate of Auburndale High School. She married the late Harlen Zubke on May 15, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Arpin. They were married 45 years and raised three children. During much of her adult life she lived in Wisconsin Rapids and worked as a Dental Assistant and homemaker.

Joan was a proud mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, and she took much joy in spending time outdoors with her family: camping, frog catching, and attending their sporting events. Joan was well travelled having been to Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and Mexico. She particularly enjoyed wintering in Florida. She will be remembered for her craft Christmas Stockings and all the decorative fabric mice she gave to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her longtime dear companion Cyril “Gabe” Gabel and her loving children: Debbie (Dean) Ascher, Jody (Mike) Scherr, and Marty (Sue) Zubke. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren: Jake (Sarah) Ascher, Lindsay (Cameron) Queal, Maggie Jo (Andy) Kirby, Benn (Kyla) Zubke, Phil (Kayla) Zubke, Josh (Kelsey) Zubke, Joe (Becky) Scherr, and Zac Scherr; and 14 great-grandchildren: Kira Ascher, Dean & Dallas Queal, Sofiya & Fiona Kirby, Wyatt & Walker Scherr, Adell, Camryn, Teagan, Bowe, Nora, Case, and Zoey Zubke.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Art and Ronnie Marti, and Judy Frazier.
