Joan Laessig, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born on May 8, 1945, in Marshfield, to Joseph and Thresilla (Breu) Kupfer. She attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1963. After high school she worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Marshfield up until her marriage to Timothy Laessig on September 30, 1967. They were married for 56 years.
She was a homemaker but worked seasonally at Figi's in Marshfield. She enjoyed traveling with the family, reading, camping, and listening to Elvis music. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her brother and family in Minnesota.
Joan is survived by her husband, Timothy, and their daughters: Tina Hoefs of Stratford, Tammy Strebe (Travis) of Marshfield, Tracy O'Brien (Mike) of Chili, and Tanya Sly (Jeff) of Chippewa Falls. She is also survived by nine grandchildren—Tim, Joey, Randy, and Brian Hoefs; Cassandra and Skylar Strebe; Shawna Tinder and Siara O'Brien; Brooke Sly—and five great grandchildren, as well as her brother, Ronald (Karen) Kupfer of Underwood, MN, and her nephew and niece Robert and Ronda Kupfer.
A celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and service will be at 3:00 pm at Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home in Stratford on Thursday, September 12, 2024 with Chaplain Fahey officiating.
