IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jessica Janet
Tomfohrde
January 12, 1989 – May 20, 2023
Jessica Janet Tomfohrde, 34, Bloomington, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
A gathering for family and friends will be from 12:00 pm until a service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield, at a later date.
Jessica was born on January 12, 1989, in Marshfield, to Timothy and Lisa (Weiler) Tomfohrde. She was Valedictorian of the class of 2007 at Auburndale High School. She then attended Madison Area Technical College where she received her training as a Veterinary Technician. After her education she worked as a veterinary technician in Idaho, New Orleans, LA and Bloomington, IL. She also had been employed at various humane societies.
Jessi struggled for many years with depression and alcoholism and tried many times to get better, but her demons were stronger. She was a bright light caped by darkness. She was kind and compassionate to everyone with not a mean bone in her body and was extremely smart, an amazing writer and an awesome storyteller. She was a very talented artist who could draw the best pictures. She was contracted by a company to have her artwork used on children's orthotic braces which will enable her artwork to live on. She loved animals more than people and felt that every creature's life was precious, from spiders, to snakes, to cats, and dogs. It's hard to find a picture of her without an animal in her arms.
She is survived by her mother, Lisa (Ken) Maki of Cloquet, MN, her father, Tim Tomfohrde (Abby) of Wausau, her sister Melissa (Jerime) Miles of Richfield, MN, stepsisters Alicia and Anja Maki and stepbrother Eero Maki all of Cloquet, MN, and the love of her life, Ploy Freebairn of Bloomington, IL. She is further survived by her paternal grandparents, Ron and Carol Tomfohrde, step-grandmother, Liz Bottineau, and aunts and uncles, Debbie Tomfohrde, Terri Tomfohrde, Dan and Tami Tomfohrde, Jim and Cathy Tomfohrde, Ken and Shirley Karl, Mike Weiler (JoLynn), Perry and Linda Weiler, Dave and Connie Weiler, Linda Blum (Jim), Dan and Lori Weiler, Alan Weiler (Carol), Jamie (Nicole) Weiler and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Kelly Tomfohrde, her maternal grandparents, James and Janet Weiler, her aunts, Wanda Weiler and Joann Weiler, and her uncle Phil Blum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Jessi's name to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS) https://www.marshfieldpetshelter.org/donate
