Jerome “Jerry” G. Stack, 86, Stratford, died peacefully with his family present at home on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Eric Mashak will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Jerome was born on August 1, 1939 in Marathon County to Anthony “Tony” and Cherubin “Carrie” (Fry) Stack. In 1966, he purchased the family farm. He was united in marriage to Mary Van Der Leest on July 11, 1970 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford.

Jerome was a lifelong dairy farmer whose work ethic defined much of his life and formed many of his daily routines, often living by the clock. He was known as a hard worker who took pride in what he did, yet he also appreciated the simple pleasures—especially his naps.

After retiring from farming, Jerome worked part-time mowing lawns for the Stratford School District. He also enjoyed traveling, especially his annual trips to Wisconsin Dells and other destinations including Las Vegas, Mexico, and Jamaica.

Jerome had a wide range of hobbies that brought him joy, including “fishing,” bowling, playing pool, and shaking dice. He cherished being a dad and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he often took to County Aire. He also had a special place in his heart for dogs. Jerome also enjoyed music, particularly Kitty Wells and polka. Over the years, he was generous blood donor, contributing more than 23 gallons.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, sons, Todd Stack (Donna), Jason (Christy) Stack, Chad Stack (Emily), and grandchildren, Merissa (Dylan) Kraus, Megan Stack (John), Brenda Stack (Jack), Amanda Stack, Adam Stack, and step grandchildren, Mike Shara and Kara Schara.

He is further survived by his sisters, Frances Grosskreutz and Patricia (Jim) Pautzke, and sister in law Mary Stack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William, Leonard, and Thomas Stack, sisters, Marion (Reiny) Draeger, Joan (Leo) Manthey, and Elaine (Elroy) Pilgrim, and daughter in law, Tara Stack.
