Patriot Guard Riders will stand in honor at the Rembs Funeral Home on Monday for the duration of the visitation. He was born to Richard and Adeline (Altmann) Drexler in Wausau, WI on August 31, 1949. Jerry graduated from Stratford High School in 1967. Upon completion of his basic training, he served in Vietnam. On April 23, 1982, Jerry married Judy Ellenbecker in Wausau. Jerry was planning on retiring from Stratford Homes on July 29, 2011 after 38 years of employment. He enjoyed driving school bus for the Stratford School District. Upon this he took on countless side jobs performing woodworking or plumbing projects asking little more than gratitude for his work. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing and writing his own songs, along with performing with Crosswinds, a band that played gospel, blue grass, oldies, and country for nursing homes, churches, and coffee shops. He lived his life for Christ and wanted others to know of Jesus saving grace. He found friends through church activities, disc golf and joke telling; especially ones he made up himself. Suspenders were never optional, always required. In memory of Jerry Drexler, a memorial fund has been set up at the Stratford State Bank. His friends and family would like to dedicate a disc golf course on Stratfords Heritage Trail. Jerry had talked about setting up a disc golf course on the trail many times at the coffee shop. He thought many people would be able to enjoy this sport if brought to Stratford. Please help us make this another one of Jerry's contributions to our Stratford Community. Checks can be made out to 'Jerry Drexler Memorial Fund'. Payments may be dropped off at Stratford State Bank, Stratford CWC Gas Station, Paula's Coffee House, Ulrich Bus Service, Stratford Homes and Cornerstone Community Church in Marshfield. Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy; 5 children, Jason and (Kari) Drexler of Plum City; Josh Drexler of Fenwood; Jared Drexler of Stratford; Julaine and(Brent) Aschenbrenner of Stratford; Joseph and (Rachel) Drexler of Edgar; and 7 grandchildren, Alex, Drey, Trenton, Peyton, Trygve, Kiley and Jackson.
