Jeffery "Jeff" Merritt, age 61, of Pittsville passed away April 21, 2021 at Three Oaks skilled nursing facility. Jeff was born November 3, 1959 in Wisconsin Rapids to Clarence and Dolores Merritt. He attended Pittsville High school and graduated in 1978.
Jeff never let limitations hold him back; he held various jobs from Ocean Spray to hospital work and farm hand to Arpin Dairy and Pittsville Meats. Jeff was born with a determination to succeed and take care of others and he did. In a world of, I can't attitudes, Jeff was an inspiration to us all because he said, "I can" and he did.
Jeff enjoyed the outdoors and could be found sitting peacefully outside or doing yard work. He was an avid WWE fan and loved a good Western especially if The Duke was starring. Not a stranger to socializing, Jeff could be often found at the local cafe or watering hole in his younger years.
While Jeff never married he did have many nieces and nephews all of which held a special place in his heart. His special handshakes and jokes were enjoyed by all the kids. There was never a dull moment around Jeff, he loved to kid around and tease.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Dolores Merritt - Pittsville. Sisters; Linda (Bob) Kesting - Lebanon, TN, Suzi Conner - Marshfield, Cheryl (Seth) Fuller - Sierra Vista, AZ. Brothers; Mike (Joan) - Pittsville, Wally Pittsville, Dan (Charlotte) - Pittsville, and Ron (Shawna) - Pittsville. He is further survived by his God children Nicholas (Kristy) Schutz - Lomira, WI, Jesse (Brian) Erickson - Spencer, WI, and Caitlyn Fuller- Sierra Vista, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal Grandparents, his father, Clarence Merritt and one sister Peggy (Dennis) Dass.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the fall. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Heartland Hospice and Three Oaks nursing facility.
Our loss is his gain. Have fun frolicking with Snoopy and Clemmy. May God heal all the wrongs and the angels give you wings.
