Jean B. Steck, age 87, Marshfield, passed away Monday, May 20th, 2024, at Wells Nature View surrounded by her loved ones in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Our Lady of Peace, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Medford, at a later date.

Jean was born July 10th, 1936, in Chicago, to Henry and Mary (Riordan) Szczeck. Jean obtained a Bachelor of Philosophy and a Master of Arts, both from Siena Heights University in Michigan. She was employed as a Stenographer for the National Gypsum Company, Chicago, and later as an administrative assistant for Operation Hope Community Health, Detroit. Turning her focus toward teaching, she became an educator in Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan. She held the position of the school counselor at Marshfield High School for 24 years.

During Jean's retirement years, she enjoyed tutoring, mentoring, reading, knitting, Curves, crossword puzzles, and her retired friend's coffee clutch.

Jean is survived by her sister Joan Fales, her nephews John and Robert Fales, and her friends the Tan T. Tran family.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mary Szczech, and her brother-in-law William Fales.

Memorials can be designated to Our Lady of Peace.
