Jean Mary Kraus, 87, of Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Wells Nature View where she had been a resident for several years. Jean was born Jeanette Mary Kohlbeck in Stratford, WI on August 17, 1936. She was the twin daughter of Charles and Lucy (Stueber) Kohlbeck. She attended Stratford High School and graduated as class salutatorian in 1954. She married Jerald Kraus on October 27, 1956, at St Joseph's Church in Stratford in a double wedding with her twin sister, Jane Kohlbeck who married Marv Fait.
Jean worked for Weyerhaeuser in Marshfield, and then joined Wynia law firm as a paralegal for Attorney Clyde Wynia where she worked with him for over 30 years until her retirement. Jean was an active member of St John's Catholic Church singing in the choir every Sunday and for special events. Jean and her twin sister loved singing with the Marshfield Chapter of the Sweet Adelines. She took great joy in rehearsing and then performing at concerts for the local community. "I've got rhythm."
Jean is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jerry; children, Michael (Deb) Kraus of Marshfield, Pat (Sarah) Kraus of Pittsville, and Sara (Steve) Nick of Eau Claire. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Monica (Matt Steiner) Nyberg, Taylor Kraus, Spencer (Danielle) Kraus, Anna Nick, Julia Nick, and Timothy Blu Kraus and her one great-grandchild Olivia Steiner.
Jean is further survived by her sisters Lorraine (the late Ray) Raczek of Albuquerque, NM and Jane (Marv) Fait of Marshfield, WI.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Terry and Donald Kohlbeck.
Services will be held privately according to her wishes at Rembs Funeral Home with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical care staff at Wells Nature View and St. Croix Hospice for their devoted care.
