James "Jim" W. Ness, 90, Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Norwood Health Services in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield where military honors will be conducted by VFW Mueller-Hintz Post #1866 - Marshfield.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 5 and from 10:00 am until the time of service on Monday, all at Rembs Funeral Home.
Jim was born on January 23, 1935 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Francis and Muriel (Tupper) Ness. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High School. He then went on to serve in the Army National Guard for 6 years.
At the age of 14, Jim began working alongside his father at Wheelers Chevrolet, where he eventually advanced to the role of Parts Department Manager. From 1972 to 1980, he served as a district agent for Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance. He later joined the Marshfield Clinic, where he worked from 1979 to 1990 as both an outreach driver and a patient accounts counselor. He then drove for Lamers Bus Lines for several years until retiring in 1998.
On April 29, 1995, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Kolb in Marshfield. Together, they shared many special memories, including an annual spring trip to Laughlin, Nevada, which they enjoyed for over 20 years. Jim had a passion for motorcycling, traveling, woodworking, and photography. In his younger years, he also enjoyed fishing and small game hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary, daughters, Sharon (Terry) Rand of Willard, Barb Arnett (Ellen Sullivan) of Madison, and Kerry (Steve) Weber of Port Washington, stepson, Jared (Jessica) Kolb of Marshfield, 1 grandchild, 3 step grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
