Obituary

James E. Drexler, 81, Stratford, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford, where the visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time. His Eminence, Raymond Cardinal Burke, Rev. Monsignor Joseph Diermeier and Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam will officiate. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County, where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford, and the grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. James was born on May 30, 1941 in Marshfield, to Jacob and Catherine (Meixner) Drexler. He graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School, Stratford and was a 1960 graduate of Stratford High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea. On October 29, 1966 he married Mary C. Burke at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Jim had been employed at Klemme Sales, Felker Brother's Manufacturing, Fareway Auto Parts and CarQuest Auto Parts. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He had served on the Stratford Village Board, the Stratford Area Fire Department and was President of The Stratford Chamber of Commerce. Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary and their children, Kristin (Scott) Bornbach and Daniel (Cara) Drexler. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kellen, Kamren and Madalen Bornbach and Jacob, Emmanuel, Gavin and Grace Drexler. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Raymond Cardinal Burke, Tom (Jean) Burke and Charles Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Gerke, a sister-in-law Rita Louis and brothers-in-law, John Burke and Patrick Burke. Memorials may be designated to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford, or the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse.
