James P. Breu, 81, Marshfield, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on Monday, June 6, 2016 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Eric Berns officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Auburndale and serving as pallbearers will be Robert Plath, Nathan Plath, Bradley Messmann, Collin Messmann, Caedyn Messmann, Michael Malyuk and Doug Seubert. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Friday from 10:00 am until service time at Our Lady of Peace Church. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
James was born on August 17, 1934 in Auburndale, the son of Anton and Teresa (Kolbeck) Breu, and attended Hillside and Auburndale schools. He married Adleen T. Seubert on April 17, 1956 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
James was employed at various construction jobs until purchasing their farm in Auburndale in 1959. He retired in 1992 and they moved to Marshfield in 1997.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, watching wildlife and walking his dogs. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799.
James is survived by his wife, Adleen of Marshfield, and their daughters, Vickie (Robert) Plath of Marshfield, Jayne (Michael) Malyuk of Mellen and Sharon Breu of Marshfield. He is also survived by grandchildren, Nathan Plath and Ashley (Bradley) Messmann, great grandchildren, Collin and Caedyn, step grandchildren, Matthew (Laurie) Malyuk, Marcus (Amanda) Malyuk and Mary Champion and 6 step great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Gene Breu.
He was predeceased by his parents, a son Dennis in 1976, sisters Armella (Jake) Bohman and Mary Ann (John) Rosicky and a brother, Norbert Breu.
