James T. Asplund, 76, Owen, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Marshfield Medical Center. James was born on November 24, 1941 in Chippewa Falls to Lloyd H. and Esther (Wedin) Hayton. He was united in marriage to Lois F. Schuh August 4, 2001. He worked as a farmer and then as a truck driver until his retirement. He was a very generous man who was known to bring hitchhikers home from the road and give them a warm bed for a night and breakfast the next morning. James enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever he could, puttering out in the yard, and especially taking drives to visit family. As a trucker, James had been to all the lower 48 states and into Canada. He will be fondly remembered as a jokester/storyteller, and for being the "life of the party". James is survived by his wife Lois Asplund of Owen; children: Donna Krueger of Marshfield, Jennifer (David) LaRock of Withee, Greg Asplund of Colby, Sheryl (Michael) Asplund-Miller of Denver, CO, Brian (Sue) Asplund of Stratford, Jimmy (Jackie) Asplund of Stratford; step children: Scott Wilke of Evansville, and Holly (Dan) Wilke of Withee. He is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his former wife Sandy (Ramker) Asplund. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
