Irene was born to William Claude Peaslee & Anna Maria Peaslee (Gotz) in Dexterville, Wisconsin on May 31, 1921. She lived in Dexterville and attended Dexterville School, then Hemlock Creek School, then Cranmoor State Graded School and 8th grade was at 2 Mile School in Wisconsin Rapids. She attended Pittsville High School and then Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids where she worked for Dr. Barnett for room and board. Irene graduated in 1941 from Lincoln High School. Irene married her best friend, Everett (Whitey) Rasmussen in April 1942. After traveling around for work they finally made their home at 7282 Hwy 54, Wisconsin Rapids. Irene is survived by her sons, David (Ann) of Stratford, Michael (Judy) of Spokane, Washington, Rodney (Roxane) of Wisconsin Rapids, Mark (Shirley) of Wisconsin Rapids, daughters Faye Weiss of North Dakota, and Jayne (Don) Sojka of Pittsville. Grandchildren: Debra, Ken, Nancy, Amanda, Tim, Michelle (deceased), Carrie, Roberta, Dustin, Anna, Eric, Mark, Scott, Pam, Josh, Shianne, and Everett. Great-Grandchildren: Tory & Tyler Nanstad, Brennan, Taylona (deceased) and Aeden Arendt, Mackenzie, and Mick Rasmussen, Avery and Jon Brandenburg, also Apollo Bateman, Trinten & Corbin Rasmussen, Carley and Jackson Weiss, Gage Weiss, Lucas & Gavin & Jayce Verhulst, Aiden and Aubree Sojka, Ben, Jacob, & Dylan Kraus, and a GREAT number of nieces and nephews, plus dear friends. Irene was active at All Saints Catholic Church, treasurer of Altar Society in Babcock, treasurer of Home and School Association at Mary Heart High School in Pittsville, member of St. Lucy Circle and became treasurer as well. In the later years Irene was a member of St. Joachim, active member of the Marshfield Geneology, Knitters Guild, Chit Chat homemakers club, and active on the Town of Cranmoor Election Board for 48 years. Irene genuinely loved people. She entertained as often as she could. Cooking and baking tasty dishes from scratch for anyone that walked in the door. She had a huge garden where she provided home grown products to any one that needed fresh vegetables. Mother canned until there were no more jars left in her root cellar and then gave most of the finished products away. She took a great deal of pride in filling the can good shelves and the freezer with fresh fruit and vegetables. Irene was very talented. She knitted sweaters, Afghans, scarves, mittens, slippers, dish clothes, and so much more. Her days were always filled with activities. Over the years she hand crafted Christmas ornaments, ceramics, embroidery, quilts and doilies. Her wish is to have all of her knitting books, patterns, pictures and journals to be donated to the knitter's guild with hopes of many more talented people having access to her very own patterns via the internet. Irene will always be remembered for her LOVE. She truly cared for everyone. Making friends was easy for her and her motto was to have a FRIEND one must BE A FRIEND. Mother was a care giver. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Everett, her mom and dad and she was the last remaining daughter of a family of 13 with the exception of a niece (Vera) whom was raised with her. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Michelle Rasmussen and great-granddaughter Taylona Arndt. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
