Inez J. Halvorson, 88, formerly of Edgar, died Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the Hospice House in Wausau under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care.

A Funeral service for Inez will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 10th at Community Bible Church in Stratford with Pastor Tim Yorgey officiating. Music will be provided by friends and family. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield, at a later date. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation at church from 10:00 am until time of service.

Inez was born November 26, 1937 at home near Chili, WI to Raymond and Freda (Knapton) Cattanach. Along with her five siblings she attended Marshfield area schools, graduating from Marshfield High School in 1955.

Following graduation, Inez began working at Wausau Insurance where she met her husband Irving Halvorson. They married September 27, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford. He sadly passed in 1990. After her marriage, Inez became a mother and stayed home to raise her three children. After they were grown, Inez found seasonal work at Figi's and was an office assistant for a local veterinarian. In later years she worked as a home health aide. Inez was a faithful member of Community Bible Church in Stratford where she was active in the Awana Program, Ladies' Fellowship, and Meal Ministry. She was also involved with the Edgar Women's Club and served on the Edgar School Board for several years.

Hospitality was her gift & love language. She showed her love for people through baking & cooking. Her specialties were lemon bars, peanut butter temptations, Amish Bread, and fruitcake. Her favorite activities included any time spent with family and playing games.

Inez will be lovingly missed by her daughters: Tania (Allan) Alme of Baldwin, WI, Nanci (Dan) Schillinger of Edgar, WI, and son Kevin (Denise) Halvorson of Conroy, TX. She is further survived by grandchildren: MariAnn(Matthew) Frie, Erik McCarthy, Joshua (Hannah) & Hannah Alme; step-grandchildren: Clarissa (Allen) Brown, Chad (Manilath) Schillinger, Christopher Schillinger, and Josh (Amy) Lesniak; great-grandchildren: Emma & Sam Frie, and Scarlett Alme; step-great-grandchildren: Savannah Worley, Ainsley Brown, Nari, Mali, Emi, McKenna, and Ellieonna Schillinger; Carter and Elyse Lesniak; and one step-great-great-grandchild, Everett Shafer. She is further survived by her sister Margaret Piguet of Auburndale and many nieces and nephews.

Inez is predeceased by her parents, husband Irving, and four brothers: Wayne, Lyle, Craig, and Dale Cattanach.
