Obituary

Hubert W. "Hub" Reigel, 90, Marshfield, died peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Rembs Funeral Home with Rev. Savarimuthu Sevaraj officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. The visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 am until service time at Rembs Funeral Home. Hubert was born on August 7, 1923 in the Town of Richfield, Wood County, to Joseph A. and Mary (Yungwirth) Reigel. After the death of his mother he was lovingly cared for by his stepmother, Beryl (Godard) Reigel. As a young man Hub enlisted in the United States Navy serving during World War II on the USS Onslow in the pacific Theater from July 15, 1943 until his honorable discharge on February 21, 1946. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Hyder on December 5, 1945 in Long Beach, CA. She died on June 9, 1962. He then married Kathryn "Kay" Virnig on October 5, 1963 and they later divorced. He later married Beatrice "Bea" Smith in October of 1987 and she died in June 2008. Hub worked as a carpenter all his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his cat, Missy. He also enjoyed traveling with Bea in his RV. He is survived by his children Phil (Laura) Reigel of Sheboygan, Bill (Bonnie) Reigel of Boise, Idaho, Charlie (Lynn) Reigel of Granton, Grace (Mark) Bailey of Pittsville, Tom (Faith) Reigel Marshfield, Pat (Kathy) Reigel of Stratford, and Chris (Marge) Reigel of Marshfield. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings, Victor Reigel of Marshfield, Adelia Beckmann of Oak Creek, Arthur Reigel of Marshfield and Joe Reigel of Eau Claire. He was predeceased by his parents, his wives, Betty and Bea, a son, Anthony "Tony" Reigel, 2 daughters-in-law, and 5 siblings.
