Howard H. "Howie" Kohls, 80, Vesper, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville, where a visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Gary Markworth will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wood, Wood County, and serving as pallbearers will be Sam Kohls, Eli Fox, Codi Fox, Cameron Dammann, Tyler Dammann and Jim Klitzman. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville is assisting the family. Howard was born on September 4, 1941 in Marshfield, to Bernard and Cornelia (Gansch) Kohls. He was a 1959 graduate of Auburndale High School. He married Carol A. Brockman on August 21, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vesper. Howie was employed at Georgia Pacific in Port Edwards and farmed in the Town of Hansen, Wood County. He also served as Town Chairman for the Town of Hansen for many years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, and refurbishing and showing antique Oliver and John Deere tractors. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol, a son, Jeff (Jodie) Kohls of Fridley, MN, a daughter, Diane (Kurt) Wein of Marshfield and two grandsons, Sam and Dylan Kohls. He is also survived by brothers, Herman (Theresa) Kohls of Nekoosa and Marvin Kohls of Vesper. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Kohls. Memorials may be designated in his name to St. John's Lutheran Church Radio Ministry.
