Helen A. Schlafke, 100 of Marshfield died on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the House of The Dove. She was under the care of Ministry Home Hospice services of Marshfield. Funeral services will be 11am Monday, November 14, 2011 at Rembs Funeral Home with Rev. Chris W. Schwanz officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery with Ron Frakes, Jim and Bill Ley, Jeff and Matthew Wells and Rodney Dupee serving as pallbearers Visitations will be from 10am until time of the services on Monday at Rembs Funeral Home. Helen was born on April 17, 1911 in the town of Sherman, Clark County to Peter and Agnes (Gaffney) Heckel. She attended school in Lincoln Township and later was united in marriage to Willis A. Schlafke on July 6, 1953 in Phillips. Willis died on March 11, 1989. They lived in the Marshfield area their entire lives where she was employed at Roddis Plywood. She enjoyed going to their cottage in Rib Lake, fishing, crocheting, polka music and going to the casinos. Helen is survived by four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother Earl (Shirley) Heckel of Galesburg, IL and a sister Lucille Conway of Marshfield and numerous nieces and nephews.
