Helen M. (Hokamp) Scheurer, 97, of Pittsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Wells Nature View in Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of service. Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Joachim’s Cemetery, Pittsville at a later date.

Helen was born on December 29, 1928 in Pittsville to Adam Edward and Helen M. (Rosploch) Hokamp.

Helen was a lifelong member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Parish and a proud member of the Pittsville American Legion Auxiliary since 1948. Before her marriage, she worked at Baum’s Grocery Store in Pittsville, Coffee Pot Café in Marshfield, and later at the Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield.

She married Emil Scheurer Jr. on January 22, 1949 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville. They shared 52 years of marriage until his passing on September 7, 2001. Together they raised four children: Michael, Karen, Constance, and Tami.

After her youngest daughter began kindergarten, Helen returned to full-time work. She worked at Figi’s, then St. Joseph’s Hospital as a patient liaison, and later at Peoples State Bank in Pittsville as a bank secretary and Peoples Insurance agent, retiring after 40 years. Helen and Emil also owned and operated Little Bull Falls Bar from 1968 until its sale in 1977.

Helen enjoyed tending her many perennial flowerbeds, bowling, golfing, and crafts. In her later years, she developed dementia and moved to Wells Nature View Assisted Living in Marshfield in late 2021.

Helen is survived by her children: Michael (Debra) Scheurer Sr., Karen (Ronald) Parker, and Tami (Daniel) Hahn. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael (Tracey) Scheurer Jr., Melissa Scheurer, Matthew Scheurer, Chadrick (Jenny Schmidt) Parker, Clifford Parker, Kimberli (Brandon) Dammann, Jacob (Elise) Hahn, Jared Hahn, and Eric (Taylor) Hahn; great-grandchildren: Kelvin, Layla, and Ezekial Scheurer; Damien Moore; Kassidy Parker; Beck and Braxton Dammann; Henry and Emily Hahn; and Hayes Hahn; and son-in-law Charles (Becky) Soper.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Emil; her daughter Constance Soper; grandson Mark Scheurer; and her siblings: Cecilia (Norman) Pankratz, Lawrence Hokamp (at age 9), Irene (Lloyd) Marlette, Katherine (Donald) Smith, Joseph (Marion) Hokamp, Agnes (Carl) Johnson, Edward (Judith) Hokamp, and Regina “Susie” (John) Wilke.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Jen, Ashley, Melissa, Dana, Shawna, Julie, and all the caregivers and aides for their compassion and care. A special thank you to the nurses and aides at Heartland Hospice for assisting Helen during the past 2 years, especially Julie and Courtney. The family also extends special appreciation to Terri Groshek and Pat Coulthard from St. Joachim’s Parish for their visits and communion.

“What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” -Helen Keller
