Obituary

Helen C. Helminiak, 82, Junction CIty, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at House of the Dove Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 am Saturday, January 22 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Junction City. Fr. Packi will officiate and burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Helen's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday 4-8 pm at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City and at church Saturday morning from 9:30 until time of service. The PCCW will lead a Rosary Service Friday night at 7:30. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Helen was born on February 18, 1939 in Blenker, Wisconsin, to Bernard and Apollonia (Ashbeck) Altmann and was a 1957 graduate of Auburndale High School. She was united in marriage to Arthur Helminiak on June 6, 1959 at St. Kilian's Catholic Church in Blenker. Together they raised four children. Helen was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in the records department, Marshfield, for 4 years before resigning in 1960 to take on the responsibilities of a farm wife. Art and Helen took over Art's parents' farm in 1962 starting with 15 cows and 80 acres. By 1986 they had over 150 head of cattle and 500 acres. The Helminiaks retired from farming in 2000 following 38 years. Helen enjoyed Sunday night and Tuesday night bowling leagues. She was a longtime member of the St. Michael's Parish Council of Catholic Women and the church choir. Helen was also an avid baker and taught cooking to her children and grandchildren. She took meticulous attention when caring for her animals and directing any other tasks around the farm. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Art; and their children, Linda (Philip) Casper of Wisconsin Rapids, Glenn (Pam) Helminiak of Junction City, Jeff (Mary) Helminiak of Stevens Point, and Mark (Rosie) Helminiak of Junction City. Helen is further survived by 12 grandchildren: Ashley Mart, Justin Vandehey, Jeremy Vandehey, Kody Casper, Heather Brandner, Joel, Luke, Haley, Olivia, Seth, Katie, & Kobe Helminiak; 9 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Rhonda (Terry) Richardson, Dale (Donna) Altmann, Ed (Lois) Altmann, LeRoy (Leiann) Altmann, Cliff (Janice) Altmann, and Larry (Gwen) Altmann, and sister-in-law Joanne (Ralph) Tryba She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ann Warmka, son-in-law Larry Vandehey, sister-in-law Bernadine Infanger, and brothers-in-law Johnny & Joseph Helminiak.
