Helen Emma Haessly, 105, Marshfield, entered eternal life to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Wells Nature View Assisted Living. Helen was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hewitt, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Rev. Dean Pingel will officiate. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield, and serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Paul Stichert, Dana Stichert, Will Stichert, Scott Wunrow, John Stichert and Bradford Haessly. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Renee Coleman, Sara Tischbein, Ann Serchen, Pamela Iaquinta and Mary Stichert-Fried. The visitation will be held from 11:00 am on Wednesday until service time at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Helen was born on September 6, 1910 in Calumet County to the late Frederick and Christena (Winkler) Krueger. She moved to the Town of Marshfield as a baby in 1910 and attended Mill Creek School. After her education she helped her parents on the family farm. She also worked in Houston, Texas and traveled to several states in the U.S. She married John G. Haessly on September 27, 1928 and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on September 27, 1978. From 1930 to 1939 they lived in the Town of Richfield and purchased a farm. They sold the farm and then moved to the Town of Marshfield on Stadt Road to continue with dairy farming. They would remain on that farm. In her younger years the chicken coop was full of laying hens and she would gather over 150 eggs a day. She was an extremely hard working woman and would say "Hard work never hurt anyone." She instilled this work ethic into her children. Helen was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She did volunteer work and also was a former Farm Bureau member. While farming, she and John housed, nurtured, counselled and provided for foster boys. She loved the land, animals, nature and wide open spaces. She especially loved the dairy cows. Her large, numerous and beautiful flower beds and vegetable garden was always a spectacular site to behold. Her raspberry and asparagus patches were also amazing sites. Helen enjoyed going to ballroom dances and square dancing with the Golden Squares (from the time it originated until 2008). She loved waltz and polka. Helen was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She enjoyed having her family and friends over for special occasions. Her meals, cakes and pies made all events special. Her freezer was always filled with farm meats and produce and the cellar shelves brimmed with canned fruit jars. Helen is survived by her four children, Adeline (Mike) Wunrow, Arlene (Willis) Stichert, Ardyce (Kenneth) Heiting and Arlon (Gail) Haessly and a sister-in-law, Opal Krueger. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Paul (Janet) Stichert, Renee (James) Coleman, Dana (Denise) Stichert, Sara (Doug) Tischbein, Will (Cindy) Stichert, Ann (Jeff) Serchen, Pamela (David) Iaqunita, Scott (Karla) Wunrow, John Stichert, Mary Stichert-Fried (fiancé Bill) and Bradford (Kendra) Haessly. She is further survived by 28 great grandchildren, Ben Stichert, Sara (Craig) Griesbach, Eric (Tammy) Stichert, Wade (Heather) Stichert, Ryan Coleman, Kate (Adam) Krasselt, John Coleman (fiancé Alyssa), Damon, Dylan and Dara Stichert, Phillip and Brandon Tischbein, Rachel and Ellen Stichert, Craig and Emily Serchen, Sophia, Issac and Grace Iaqunita, Jenna (Dan) Sieber, Kelly Wunrow, Jaclyn, Jacob and Joshua Fried, Jack, Olivia, Madaline and Samuel Haessly, step grandchildren, Beau (Jena) Serchen and Brant (Shannon) Serchen and 8 great great grandchildren, Owen, Lillian and Emma Griesbach, Avery, Samuel and Ella Stichert, Mason Krasselt and Bryant Serchen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, sisters, Sarah (Arthur) Paasch, Ida (Anton) Riehle, Hannah (Carl) Karsten, a brother, Arnold Krueger and a son-in-law, Willis P. Stichert. The family would like to thank the staff at Wells Nature View for their kindness and loving care. Memorials may be designated in Helen's name to Immanuel Luther Church, Hewitt.
