Helen C. Dennee, 88, Stratford, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 1, 2012 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Community Bible Church, Stratford with Pastor Bill Nesbitt officiating. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until service time all at Community Bible Church. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Helen was born on March 13, 1924 in Stratford to Joseph and Mary (Ponczoch) Kroening, the seventh of twelve children. She married the love of her life, Joe "Jim" Dennee on September 7, 1943 in Chicago and they returned to Stratford in 1946. While in Chicago, Helen worked as a waitress. After their return to Stratford they operated a small farm. Years later she worked in the pediatric ward of St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse's aide and then as a ward clerk. She loved working with children and was a blessing to many. She retired after twenty five years to pick up where she left off…taking care of and enjoying her family. Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening, sewing, reading her Bible, playing cards with her siblings and watching the Grand Ole Opry. Helen's home was always open to her family. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Charlotte Dennee, Elgin, IL; Donna (John) Reif and Denise (Perry) Kann, all of Stratford; her grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Stark, Appleton, Pam Folz, Stratford, Brian Reif, Marshfield, Curtis (special friend Amber) Kann, Plover, and Kyle (Angie) Kann, Stratford; and great grandchildren, Josh Reif, Jacob Reif and Jaime Folz, Stratford, Bryce Reif and Katlyn Reif, Marshfield, and Zayonna and Carlos Stark, Appleton. She is further survived by four sisters, Marcella Sitko, Mosinee, Loretta Masanz, Marshfield, Agnes (Orville) Landwehr, Mosinee and Dorothy (Leo) Geiger, Loyal and four sisters-in-law, Isabelle Kroening and Twyla Kroening, Stratford, Genevieve Maszk, Schofield, and Verna Kroening, Auburndale and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Joe, four brothers, Bernard, Jerome, Melvin, and Leon Kroening and three sisters, Marie Wurl, Margaret Kroening and Irene Beyer. Helen's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her family at Community Bible Church, Pastor and Lisa Nesbitt, and Chaplain Randy VanDeLoo for the many cards, prayers, visits, flowers and notes of encouragement shown to Helen and her family during her illness. With God as her strength, she fought a valiant fight over the last few months. Also the family would like to thank the Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Hospice Services doctors, nurses, CNA's, transporters and other staff for the compassionate care they gave to Helen and the family.
