Obituary

Harvey F. Pierce, age 91, Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully at his home with family at his side on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time. Rev. Peter Plagenz will officiate. Entombment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids, and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Harvey was born on May 15,1934 in the Town of Pine Grove, (Bancroft) Portage County, to Albert and Marie (Bender) Pierce. He attended Auburndale High School. He married Naomi M. Bautz on July 20, 1954, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and they were married for 64 years until Naomi passed away on August 18, 2018.

Harvey had been an ambitious hardworking man his entire life. In addition to being employed at Consolidated Papers, Wisconsin Rapids, he often worked several other jobs.

He retired from Consolidated in 1989 but never stopped working. He enjoyed keeping up his home and a meticulous lawn. He was a self-taught, skilled and passionate woodcarver, whose hands brought life to wood with patience, precision, and artistry. His legacy lives on in the hundreds of beautiful carvings he created.

Harvey is lovingly survived by five children and 11 grandchildren, a son, Dale (Kathy) Pierce of Wisconsin Rapids, and their children, Jordan (Tara) Pierce, Shane (Angie) Steltenpohl, and Nate (Hollie) Steltenpohl; a son, Alan (Mary) Pierce, of Wisconsin Rapids, and their son, Nickolas Pierce; a daughter, Tami (Greg) Jackan of Marshfield, and their children, Kat (Brad) Yanke, Ted (Andrea) Jackan, Allison (Jake) Dahlke, and Jillian (Adam) Nooker; a daughter, Gail (Mel) Martin of Ripon, and their son Eric Martin; and a daughter, Kim (Scott) Ahles of Wisconsin Rapids, and their children, Andy (Ashlynne) Ahles, and Cathleen Ahles. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren and by two sisters, Ona Mae Joling of Port Edwards, and Lynda (Lloyd) Ennett, of Wisconsin Rapids, sisters-in-law, Geraldine Pierce and Paula Pierce, and his special canine friend, Ginger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson, Justin Jackan, a great granddaughter, Bristol Pierce, two brothers, Clarence and Roger Pierce, a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Jim Zurfluh, and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Joling.

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!"

The family wishes to thank Harvey's neighbors for their watchful eye and the physicians and staff at Aspirus Clinic and hospital and Aspirus Hospice for their care.

Memorials may be designated to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids.
