Harold was born on March 28, 1920 in Marshfield to Einor and Josephine (Gessert) Hanson.
He was united in marriage to Jeanne E. Treutel at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield on September 22, 1943. Jeanne passed away on July 5, 2006.
They bought the farm in the Town of Rock on which he lived. During their active years of farming, they were promoters of the Guernsey Breed of dairy cattle. Their son Bill and daughter Karen showed cattle as 4-H'ers while Harold showed in the open class division.
Harold who still lived on the home farm on County Road B had a love for fairs ever since he showed his first calf at the 1928 Central Wisconsin State Fair in Marshfield.
He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1799 for over 50 years, President of the Wood County Farm Bureau, voting delegate for Tri-State Breeders, Guernsey Association, charter member of the Golden Glow 4-H Club with assistance from Mrs. Earl Giese in the early 1940's, 4-H Project and General Leader and served as the first president of the Leaders 4-H Council. As a member of Corpus Christi Church in Bakerville, he served on the church council and as an usher.
Anyone who knew our Dad knew of his love of life and people. He never complained. He always looked at the bright side of whatever he was given.
"You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide;
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side."
Harold is survived by his children William "Bill" (Jane) Hanson of Merrill and Karen (Jerold "Jay") Latsch of Marshfield; four grandchildren, Wendy (Allan) Chermak of Eagan, MN; Kevin (Melissa) Hanson of Spring Lake Park, MN, Todd (Jenna) Hanson of Marshfield, and Christopher (Rae) Latsch of Sherman Oaks, CA; eight great grandchildren, Zachary and Kendyl Chermak and Abby, Riley and Gavin Hanson, Cole and Callie Hanson, Harper and Baby Latsch due in May. He is further survived by his brother Donald (Val) Hanson of Marshfield and sister Helen Galaszewski of Milwaukee.
