Obituary

Grace A. Freeman 84 of Marshfield died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at her home with her family. She was under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am Friday, March 30, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert and Shawn Freeman, Jason Shupe, Robert Keyes, William Graff, Roger Baldwin and Jerry Dishinger. Visitations will be from 4-7pm Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Friday at the church from 9:30am until time of services. Grace was born on September 1, 1927 in Rozellville to John and Anna (Schueller) Dishinger. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, graduated from Marshfield Senior High and attended Vocational Technical School for four years. She married Russell C. Freeman on August 9, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa. Russell died on January 16, 1993. After her education, she was employed at the Marshfield Telephone Company for 4 years then was transferred to the Stevens Point Telephone Company until her marriage to Russell. Grace and her husband loved to travel and spent 15 years in Las Cruces, NM, Lake Havasau, AZ and Honolulu, HI during the winter months. She liked to play cards especially sheepshead, going up to their cottage to fish and have friends visit from Minnesota and Marshfield. Grace was treasurer of Spencer Woman's Club, treasurer of Christ The King Christian Mothers Society, President of the PTA, den mother for cub scouts and did volunteer work for the Cancer Society. Grace is survived by three children, Susan (David) Shupe of Spencer, Mark (Susan) Freeman of Spencer and Scott Freeman of Spencer, 6 grandchildren, Shawn (Megan) Freeman of Blaine, MN, Brooke (Clint) Smith of Unity, Jennifer (Eric) Krause of Spencer, Jason (Robin) Shupe of Mosinee, Sara (Scott) Krause of Stratford and Melissa (Rick) Meyer of Rothschild and 10 great grandchildren. She is further survived by three sisters Delores (Jim) Clem of Las Cruces, MN, Florence Kottmeyer of Northbrook, IL., Joyce (Robert) Lindner of Marshfield. Besides her parents and husband Russell, she was preceded in death by two brothers John and Conrad Dishinger, three sisters Virginia Pankratz, Marion Mayer and Jardine Strohman.
