Gordon H. Marohl 80 of Rockford, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 in Rockford, IL. He was born in Stratford on April 9, 1934 the son of Henry and Cecelia (Siedl) Marohl. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1952. Gordon married his loving wife Doris on June 19, 1965 in Loves Park, IL. Gordon spent most of his professional life as a driver, driving for Greyhound, Enterprise, and Cassins Auto Transport. Gordon was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy, serving on a minesweeper ship. He was also a proud member of the Navy Club, Ship 1; called bingo at the Teamsters Union and was an avid Packer fan. Gordon also enjoyed his annual trip to the Cubs/Brewers games with his five brothers. He will always be known for his sharp sense of humor and will be dearly missed.
Gordon is survived by his daughter, April Marohl; grandson, Keith Feltz; great granddaughter, Eden Fisher; brothers, Walter (Bea) Marohl, of Stratford, Melvin (Mary) of Athens, Henry Jr. (Pat) of Stratford, Anthony (Jenneva) of Wausau, William (Sue) of Stratford, his loving Shih-Tzu, Coco and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Doris in 2014 and his nephew, Kent Marohl.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratford with Fr. John Robert Alphonse officiating. Music will be provided by St. Joseph's Resurrection Choir.
Visitation will be at the church from 9am to 11am Monday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County with military rites conducted by the VWF Post # 6352 of Stratford.
