Gordon was born on August 17, 1932 in Spencer on the family farm to Lloyd and Theresa (Kriplean) Collins. He attended grade school at Sacred Heart in Marshfield. In 1953 Gordy enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Baltimore, MD where he met his first wife Constance Dennis, marrying in January of 1955. They later divorced. He married Dorothy A. (Hopp) Reinert on June 5th, 1970. He worked in construction building pole sheds with his father and brothers for many years, and even built several houses. He also worked for Nepco for 16 years, retiring at 58.
A prolific woodworker, he was able to build something for nearly all his family. He could usually be found in his shop inventing something useful. Gordy was also an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing cards. Cutting firewood was also something he'd be doing. He was a man who if you had a project, he would have the right tool and opinion. Above all, he enjoyed spending his time with family, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his children: Gordon (Connie) Collins Jr., Lynn (Jeff) Peterson, Shawn Collins, and Laurie Sedall; grandsons: Josh (Donna Pester) Reinert, James (Veronica) Sedall, Ben Collins, and Lucas Collins; and granddaughters: Rebecca (Adam Shearier) Borre, Michelle Borre, Tabitha (Borre) (George) Taub and Theresa (Collins) (Mason) Wirtz. Gordy is also survived by 7 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. He is further survived by 2 brothers: Kenneth (Fran) and Ronald (Laura) Collins and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy Collins, his sons Terry & Brian "Sammy" Collins, and siblings Lavilla Hein, Roy Collins, Harriet Kundinger, Marjorie Willfahrt, Dale Collins, and Glendon, and Conrad Collins.
