Obituary

Gordon A. Anderson, 78, Pittsville, died on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the Marshfield Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville, with Rev. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and on Wednesday from 9:30 am until service time at St. Joachim Catholic Church. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Gordon was born on June 7, 1936 in West Allis to Gordon A. and Viola (Seeger) Anderson. He married Maureen H. "Sally" Ilk on May 2, 1959 in Milwaukee. She died on March 15, 2003. Gordon was employed at Nekoosa Papers which later became Georgia Pacific until his retirement after 36 years. Gordy and Sally also owned and operated Sally's Bar in Pittsville. He was an active member of the Pittsville Lions Club, serving as an officer and president. He also served with the Pittsville Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing and following the Brewers, Packers and Marquette University Golden Eagles. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Gordy is survived by his children, Teri (Randy) Wilhelm of Pittsville, Chris (Michele) Anderson of Green Bay, Dave (Darcy) Anderson of Neenah, Martha (Bob) Schooley of Marshfield, and Larry (Cheri) Anderson of Inver Grove Heights, MN. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Beverly (Carl) Schneider, Doreen Fischer, Geri (Joe) Horvat, Gladys Feezer, Penny (Tad) Voigt, Richard (Claire) Anderson, and Terry (Carol) Anderson. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Sally, a grandson, David Schooley and a sister Dolores Hempe. Memorials may be designated in his name to the Pittsville Lions Club.
