Obituary

Glen D. Hartnett, 84, Marshfield, died on Friday, August 24, 2012 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Sebastian Venni officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Michael Peterson, Daniel Hartnett, James Hartnett, Tim Lemberg, David Weiner, Dave Holland and Melvin Heintz. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:30 am until service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Glen Dale Hartnett was born on July 1, 1928 at "Klondike Corners" in Marshfield. He was the son of Lee Glen Hartnett and Lucy (Martin) Hartnett. He attended Far View School in Richfield and Marshfield Senior High School. On June 17, 1950 he married Marion Lorraine Kaas of Bakerville, WI, at Sacred Heart Church. Glen was a welder by trade and worked for Felker Brothers Manufacturing and Central Burner and Boiler. He retired as a foreman in 1988. He was a forty year member of the United Assn. of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 434. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish for most of his life and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, John Eisen Council #1799. Glen was a talented woodworker and especially enjoyed making wooden toys and intricate projects with his scroll saw. He loved the outdoors, being an avid hunter, fisherman and camper, and was most happy when hunting squirrels with his close companion, "Pepper", his dalmation. Glen is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion; his son, Randy and wife Sherry Thistle of Champlin, MN; daughter, Cindy Lemberg of Cromwell, IN; son, Gary (Kathy) Hartnett of Mt. Vernon, WA; daughter, Tammy (Steve) Cuthbertson of St. Paul, MN; and daughter, Laura (Dean) Weiner of Milwaukee. He is also survived by grandchildren, Tim (Elaine) Lemberg,Michelle (Andrew) Temple, Joe (fiancee– Sarah) Hartnett, Erin (Jose) Matthews, Mike (Sarah) Peterson, Andy Peterson, Daniel and James Hartnett, and Emily and David Weiner, and great grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, and Amber Lemberg; Noah Matthews, and Dexter Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a son, Kevin David at birth, a son-in-law, Charles "Chick" Lemberg, his twin sister, Grace Guldan, a sister Ina Haley, brothers-in-law, Robert Haley, Alois Haehnel, Clarence Kaas, Elmer Kaas, Jerome Kaas, and Robert Stargardt, and a sisters-in-law, Josephine Johnson and Betty Kaas.
