Gladys A. Uthmeier 86 of Marshfield, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 19, 2016, surrounded by her loving family with dignity and a strong Catholic faith at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Monday, May 23, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield, WI with Father Samuel Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service at the church on Monday. Internment is at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Gladys Ann Hahn was born on October 6th, 1929, in a small three-bedroom farmhouse in the town of McMillan, WI. She was the third child of Edward and Anastasia (Daisy Lecher) Hahn. Gladys was educated in a one room school house. She moved to Marshfield where she lived with her sister, Bernice, while working for McClellan's as a sales clerk for the next year and a half. During this time she met Robert William Uthmeier at a restaurant, who became the love of her life. They married March 31st, 1948 and raised five children. She worked as a waitress for over 50 years at Sano's Pizza, Patio Restaurant, West View Country Club and the Knight Inn/ Marshfield Innkeeper. Gladys loved cooking for her family and enjoyed reading and following the Brewers and Packers. She especially enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and attending shows and plays with her sisters.
Gladys is survived by her children Carol (Tom) Knauf of Stratford, Donald (Lori) Uthmeier of Stratford, Steven (Cheryl) Uthmeier of Hewitt, and Patricia (Michael) Schumitsch of Stratford; ten grandchildren, Matthew (Kristen) and Luke (Tiffany) Knauf, Karl, Samuel and Henry Uthmeier, Tracy (Junior) Hansen, Michele (Nate) Lynch, Whitney Uthmeier, Joan and Kate Schumitsch; six great grandchildren Cassie and Kiley, Colin and Oliver, Mallory, and Addison; two sisters; Lucille Schreindl, Sally Bremmer (Dan Redmond) both of Marshfield and one brother Robert Hahn of Stevens Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her first child Joan (Uthmeier) Vogel, parents, two brothers William and Edward Hahn, and sister Bernice (Bea) Yaeger (Meacham).
The family of Gladys Uthmeier would like to thank the staff of Marshfield Clinic and St. Joseph's Hospital for the excellent service provided to our mother. A special thankyou to Dr. John Hayes for his compassionate care of our Mother.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated at a later date.
