Obituary

Gladys M. Mundt, 81, Pittsville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Bethel Center in Arpin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 2, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pittsville, with Rev. Gary Markworth officiating. Burial will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and from 10:00 am on Monday until service time at St. John's Lutheran Church. Gladys was born on May 24, 1933 in the Town of Sigel, the daughter of Michiel and Tina (Wiltjer) Jansen. She attended Spring Lake School in Sigel and was a 1951 graduate of Rudolph High School. After her education she was employed for 4 years at Consolidated Papers Consoweld Division in Wisconsin Rapids. She was united in marriage to Emil H. Mundt on September 25, 1954 at Vesper Christian Reformed Church in the Town of Sherry. After their marriage she and her husband farmed in the Town of Wood where she resided until entering Bethel Center in 2011. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, Women's Missionary League, Lutheran Laymen's League, and the former Pleasant Valley Homemakers. She enjoyed making quilts at church, gardening, 4-H projects and traveling. After her retirement she enjoyed getting together with a group of ladies that she graduated with, "The Lunch Bunch". She is survived by her husband, Emil, and their 6 children, Ronald Mundt, Gerald (Karen) Mundt, Douglas (Diane) Mundt, all of Pittsville, Daniel (Pam) Mundt of Marshfield, Susan (Scott) Fox of Arpin and Philip Mundt of Pittsville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Nathan) Russell, Douglas (Heather) Mundt, Jr., Jackie (friend – Mark Rundell) Mundt, Michiel Mundt, Jenna (Jeff) Okonek, Jared Fox, Melinda Mundt, Megan Mundt, Joseph Mundt and Evan Haley, and 10 great grandchildren, Regan, Madison, Taylor, McKinley and Lincoln Russell, Samantha, Molly and Audrey Mundt, and Brooklynn and Lucas Okonek. She is further survived by 2 sisters, Bernice (Bernard) Lindemulder of Elmhurst, IL and Carol (Ron) Schaaf of Benton, Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a daughter in infancy, 2 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, a brother in infancy and a sister. Co ndolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
