Obituary

Gerhard A. "Gerry" Grosbier, 76, Marshfield, died on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the home of his daughter in Pittsville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 21 2014 at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville with Chaplain Virgil Voight officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville. Burial will be held at a later date in the Town of Richfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Brueggen, Brian Drackley, Nathan Drackley, John Drackley, Lee Standbridge, and Bernie Drackley and honorary pallbearer will be Katelyn Drackley. The visitation will be held on Friday from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until service time at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home. Gerry was born on February 4, 1938 in Milladore, the son of Joseph and Adeline (Kulhanek) Grosbier. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a Staff Sergeant during the Berlin Crisis with the Red Arrow Division Head Quarters Battery. He also served in the Wisconsin National Guard. He married Barbara L. Pryne on September 12, 1964 in Hewitt. Gerry had been employed as a superintendant on construction at Metal Building Systems, Pittsville. He was a member of the Central Wisconsin State Fair for over 40 years and superintendant of rabbits for over 40 years as well as a member of the Central Wisconsin Rabbit Breeders and a member of the American Guernsey Association. He made all the trophies for the rabbit shows and the fair for many years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara and a daughter, Audra (Bernie) Drackley of Pittsville and grandchildren, Katelyn (Lee Standbridge) of Michigan, and Nathan and Johnathan of Pittsville. He is further survived by 4 special little friends, Snowball (Little white guy), Freckles (little brown guy), big girl Bailey, the damn cat, Ebony, and his friend, Blue. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Marvin and Leonard Grosbier, and a sister, Beverly Caflisch. A memorial will be designated in his name at a later date.
