Gerald A. Kohel Sr., 84, Marshfield, died peacefully with family at his side on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. Jesse Burish officiating. Burial will take place in St. Kilian's Cemetery, Blenker, with a luncheon at St. Kilian's afterwards. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday and on Wednesday from 12:30 pm until service time at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Knights of Columbus Council #4646 of Junction City and Council #1799 of Marshfield will recite the rosary at 6:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Gerald was born on March 23, 1932 in Town of Milladore, Wood County to Benedict and May (Luepke) Kohel. He married Sharon A. Ottelein on October 2, 1971 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Auburndale. She died on March 30, 2015. Jerry and Sharon farmed in the Town of Milladore until 2003. Jerry was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, country music, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by a son Gerry Kohel Jr. of Marshfield, a daughter, Donna (Tim) Olson of Kasson, MN, and son-in-law Stephen Hunt of Menomonee Falls, WI. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan, and Ashlyn Hunt and Hannah and Emily Olson. He is further survived by his brothers David Kohel, William Kohel, Lewis Kohel, and his sister Margaret (Kohel) Evans. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sharon, a daughter Judy Hunt, brothers Robert Kohel, Gordon Kohel, Ronald Kohel, John Kohel, Richard Kohel, and his sister Audrey (Kohel) Swik.
