Gerald "Jerry" F. Swensen Jr, 64, Pittsville, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center after a short battle with cancer.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with visitation from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Chaplain Virgil Voight will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Mueller-Hintz Post #1866 – Marshfield at the funeral home. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 24 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Marshfield. All are welcome.
Jerry was born on October 4, 1960 in Marshfield to Gerald and Mary (Burdick) Swensen. He graduated from Auburndale High School in 1977. After graduating he served in the United States Army until 1983.
Jerry worked at Hamel's Forest Products and Westside Service before starting and becoming part owner of Auburndale Recycling. After retirement he raised beef cattle on his farm.
Jerry was a member of the Elks Lodge in Marshfield and enjoyed playing pool, golfing, and riding his motorcycle with friends. He enjoyed homemade baked goods from friends and neighbors, and aviation. He was always up for a good challenge whether debating friend and family on any topic or working on complicated machinery. He also shared a special bond with many of the children of his close friends and companions, offering guidance, encouragement, and a positive influence throughout their lives.
He is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Stephen Kalmbacher) Swensen of Marshfield, Dave (Cheryl) Swensen of Auburndale, Rose (Tim) Jicinsky of Marshfield, Larry Swensen of Stratford, and Jim (Cari) Swensen of Sherry, his uncle Edwin Burdick of Easton, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roman and John.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Elks Lodge #655 - Marshfield.
