Gerald O."Jerry" Bluhm, 72 of Stratford died on Friday evening, July 24, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church with Revs. Daryn Bahn, Andrew Wilson and Mark Krueger officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield with military rites conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. Pallbearers will be Leo Hoffman, Art Regner, Jim Luedtke, Ken Roehl, Roger Literski and Ken Hughes.
Visitations will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield and again on Wednesday at the church from 10am until service time.
Jerry was born on January 22, 1943 to Henry and Mildred (Mueller) Bluhm in Wausau. He was a 1961 graduate of Spencer High School. After his education, he served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964.
He was united in marriage to Sharon E. Staadt on July 5, 1969 in Stratford.
When he returned to Marshfield after his military service, he worked for Weyerhaeuser Company then later at Felker Brothers Company for 13 years. He started farming in the town of McMillan and retired in 1999. Jerry worked part time for Super Wash in Marshfield.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons especially giving them rides on his tractor. He was an avid gardener, fan of the Packers and Brewers. His humor and calming effect on people was infectious while volunteering at various organizations.
Jerry is survived by his wife Sharon, son Nathan (Kari) Bluhm of Stratford, two grandson, Drew and Eli and one sister Sharon (Don) Bauer of Nekoosa. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Ann Bluhm of Buffalo Gap, TX, Audry Bluhm of Marshfield, Sharon Dimitt of Johnson, KS, Clara (John) Schiller of Westminster, MD and Sharlene (Don) Scherschel of Madison; along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Dennis, Delmar, Donald, Dale and James Bluhm.
Memorials may be designated to the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield, Children's Miracle Network or Christ Lutheran Faulkner Mission.
