Gerald J. Egner, 77, Wausau, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave, Wausau with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Rev. James Mayland will officiate.

Gerald was born on May 17, 1948 in Wausau to Wallace "Wally" and Anna "Ann" (Brzezinski) Egner. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and Stratford High School. He then attended UW-Marathon County and graduated from UW-Madison.

He was united in marriage to Donna M. Reiche on October 6, 1972 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wausau. She passed away on May 31, 2023.

Dad will be forever cherished for the love he shared with his wife and family, for being an incredible provider, and for his never-ending humor and wit. He was a lifelong dairyman who cared for many animals and had a special talent for naming cows. He was no stranger to hard work and long hours so he took naps when he could get them, sometimes even at the dinner table! He taught us the importance of faith, integrity, loyalty, humility, and thriftiness (he never met a rusty nail he couldn't save). Whether you knew him as "Geronimo" or one of his other affectionate nicknames, he was a good listener and a gentle soul.

He is survived by his children, Jeremy (Lori Lenz) Egner, Todd (Katrina) Egner, Raun (Shannon) Egner, Aaron (Ilesia) Egner, Garth (Brandon Davis) Egner, Shanti Egner, and Geri Egner, 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He is further survived by sisters, Judy Landwehr of Stratford and Edie (Steve) Spratt of Laconia, NH, brothers, George (Sue) Egner of Oshkosh, Michael Egner of Grayslake, IL, Dennis Egner of Burnsville, MN, and Bob (Kathy) Egner of St. George, UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter, Tara Stack.
