George Richardson, 57, of the Town of Sherry passed away unexpectedly while working at his home on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, September 21st at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore with Father Biju officiating. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitations: 3-8pm Sunday at the Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City, and from 4pm until Mass Monday at the church.

George John Richardson, born January 14, 1969, was the beloved son of Harold and Elizabeth Richardson. He attended Auburndale High School and graduated with the Class of 1987. 

After high school, George worked for several construction companies, before joining the Richardson family’s milk hauling. The tradition had been started by his Grandpa . In 2005, George joined his brothers, Mike and Pat, and eventually his nephew, John, in the family business, using their spare truck to haul milk. In 2019, he purchased his own milk truck and began operating his own route, which he proudly continued until his passing. George took great pride in carrying on the Richardson family legacy of milk hauling into Dairy State Cheese. 

For George, milk hauling was about much more than picking up milk. He genuinely cared about the farmers he served, appreciated their business, and valued the trust they placed in him. He took great pride in the friendships he built along his route. His farmers were never simply customers or stops on a schedule; they became friends, and those relationships meant a great deal to him. 

George’s love story with Lacy Skibba began with their first date on February 16, 1990. For Lacy, it was love at first sight. After ten years of building a life and friendship together, George and Lacy were married on August 19, 2000. Their marriage was rooted in a deep and enduring friendship and filled with love, laughter, companionship, and countless memories made side by side. Lacy will forever carry the love they shared and the bond they created in her heart until the day she and George meet again. 

George was also a farmer at heart. In 1996, he purchased his family’s home farm from his parents and began raising beef cattle. He continued farming until 2019. George had a lifelong love of animals and took great pride in caring for his cattle and the land that had been part of his family for generations. Farming was hard work, but for George & Lacy, it was also a way of life they truly loved with their faithful companion Zeb. 

Those fortunate enough to know George will remember a man whose personality could fill a room. He was the life of the party and had a gift for making people laugh and feel welcome wherever he went. If George was having a bad day, chances were that nobody knew it but George. He did not burden others with his troubles; instead, he was more likely to be the person trying to brighten someone else’s day. 

Behind George’s fun-loving personality was an incredibly kind and generous heart. He was the type of man who would go out of his way to help someone in need, often without being asked and without expecting anything in return. He loved people, loved animals especially his dog Zeb, and treasured the friendships he made throughout his life. Whether you knew George as family, a friend, a farmer, or the man pulling into your farm with the milk truck, you knew you had a friend in George. 

Above all, George loved his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Lacy, along with his siblings, Hal (Eileen) Richardson, Rick (Jolice) Richardson, Mike (Lynn) Richardson, Lori Mann, Adelyn Krings, Louis Richardson, Barry (Gayle) Richardson, Pat Richardson, Mark Richardson, Shelly (Steve) Stecker, Bill (Carmen) Richardson, and sister-in-law Toni Richardson. He is further survived by his cherished Goddaughters: Cassie Stillman, Leattsha Richardson-Seidl, and Jessica Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann Grassl, brother Dennis, niece Sophia Smrz, and his parents-in-law Leland & Joan Skibba. 

George was truly one of a kind. His larger-than-life personality, kind heart, loyalty, work ethic, and ability to make people laugh will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His family and friends will continue telling the George stories—the ones that make them laugh until they cry and, for a while, make it feel as though he is right there with them again. 

And anyone who knew George knows that his obituary could not end without mentioning one of his longtime favorites: Budweiser. George certainly enjoyed doing his part to keep them in business. With his passing, Anheuser-Busch may want to check its projections, because Budweiser sales just might take a noticeable hit. 

George leaves behind a lifetime of friendships, laughter, hard work, family traditions, and unforgettable memories. He was loved by so many and will be missed beyond words.
