Obituary

George A. Dibble Jr., 89, of Pittsville, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at Greenfield House in Tomah, WI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Pittsville, with Fr. Nathan officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery. Family and friends may call for visitation on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home, and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

George was born in Pittsville on September 22, 1935, to George and Irene (Dawes) Dibble. He graduated from Pittsville High School in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in April 1956. George served his country in Alaska (before it became a state) and later in New Jersey. Following his honorable discharge in 1959, he drove his 1937 Plymouth all the way from New Jersey back to Pittsville. In 1966, George began working as a janitor for the Pittsville School District, where he was a familiar face and a steady presence until his retirement in 1999.

On October 23, 1965, George married Darlene Offer, and together they created a life full of love and laughter. Although they had no children, their many nieces and nephews filled their lives with joy. Darlene passed away in 2013.

George had a gift for fixing things and was known for his love of tinkering. He could often be found taking things apart just to put them back together, earning him the family nickname "Tinker Bell from Hell." His nephew, Dennis Krueger, whom George considered the son he never had, was one of his greatest joys. Known for his sense of humor, George was always ready with a joke to make those around him smile.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, and his siblings.
