IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geoffrey P.
Weinfurtner
April 10, 1970 – January 23, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Geoffrey Peter Weinfurtner on January 23, 2026, surrounded by so many loved ones.
Geoff was born in Indianapolis on April 10th to Peter and Jalayne (Witte) Weinfurtner and lived there and Minneapolis until the family moved back to Marshfield. He attended grade school at St. John's, where he got into many shenanigans with his friends. He graduated from Columbus High School and loved to relive the glory days of football with his buddies. Geoff received his associate degree from UW–Marshfield and attended UW–Platteville. He believed in himself and worked hard to prove his doubters wrong. Because of this "can do attitude," he had a successful career as a sales manager for several material handling companies. He was never afraid to voice his opinion and argue his case.
While working his summer job at Scotty's Pizza, Geoff met the love of his life, Lisa. What began as a simple summer job quickly turned into a lifelong partnership. Geoff adored Lisa's kindness, humor, and strength, and together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and shared dreams. They were united in marriage in 1998. Their marriage was filled with laughter, spirited debates, and a deep devotion that carried them through every chapter of life.
They welcomed their daughter, Caitlyn, in 1993, and their son, Ethan, in 2001. Becoming a father was one of Geoff's greatest joys, and he poured his whole heart into raising his children with Lisa. He was their biggest and loudest cheerleader, never missing a chance to coach from the sidelines or debrief after games. He was endlessly proud of the strength, character, and kindness of their children. His heart was even more full with the addition of his grandchildren—spending time at the Fox Cabin and hunting in the shack with them were highlights of his life.
One of his proudest accomplishments outside his family was bringing his dream of a family cabin up north to life in 2016. With the help of family and friends, he built the cabin from the ground up, hoping it would be a place to gather, tell stories by the fire, and make lasting memories. He was the captain of the boat and in charge of fuel consumption, though this often left his family and friends questioning if they'd ever see land again. His desire for a cabin of his own came from the cherished memories he made spending summers at Pine Cove Resort on Castle Rock Lake.
He was most at peace in the woods and on the lake. As an avid outdoorsman, Geoff learned life lessons and made forever family through their hunting group, the Brown-Haired Monarchs. Watching his kids and grandkids continue the tradition filled Geoff with a sense of joy, as it truly was a full circle moment for him.
Please join us in celebrating Geoff's beautiful life at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 29th, from 4–7 p.m., and Friday, January 30th, from 9:30–11:30 a.m., with services starting at 11:30. He is further survived by nephews Jack and Charlie Krier, Grant Nigon, and niece Cora Nigon. There are many friends and cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him - most notably his cousin Maria and his close family friend, Kim Loos.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Pat and Reuben Weinfurtner and Beverly Witte, as well as his great grandfather Bud Schultz. He was further preceded by his aunts Debbie and Bongo and uncles Butch, Tom, and Walnuts.
The family would like to thank the staff at Marshfield Medical Center for the compassionate care he received - specifically Melanie, Rachel, McKenna, Carly, Lilly, and Chris.
Geoff overcame many obstacles in life, but he never backed down from life's hardest battles. He loved fiercely, fully, and fearlessly. He was taken from us far too soon. We will miss him so very much but will continue on his great legacy.
